Moscow:Russia has become the second country in the world with the highest number of new corona cases. At least 10 thousand cases have come up here every day in the last 5 days. More cases from Russia are being reported in the United States alone. So far 1,87,859 cases have been reported in Russia. However, the daily mortality rate here is only 0.9 per cent. There have been 1,723 deaths so far. Russia is the fifth country most affected by the Corona.
The government has singled out 85 hotspots in the country, of which the capital Moscow is the largest. An estimated 50 per cent or 92,676 cases have been registered here. Mayor Sergei Sobayani has warned that 2.5 million people could be infected in Moscow. The lockdown here has been extended to May 31. Masks and gloves have been made mandatory in public places and vehicles. People are strictly ordered to go out of the house only for the most urgent work. People who want to go to work should get a government pass first.
The Russian government has declared a non-working period until May 11, when different states have set the level of lockdown at their respective levels. President Vladimir Putin said that there is a shortage of PPE, masks in Russia. At one hospital in St. Petersburg, 111 health workers have tested positive for corona. Many health workers said that PPE was a distant thing, they were not even given masks. Complaints are threatened with dismissal. Many health workers have quit their jobs and are looking for another job.
97 doctors have died, masks less for health workers
